Some weddings just feel like joy from beginning to end — and Ben + Benny’s day at The Refinery was exactly that.
Now affectionately known as “The HusBen’s”, these two created a wedding day that felt elegant, emotional, relaxed, and genuinely fun all at once.
Even the rain couldn’t slow the energy down.
From emotional vows and happy tears to champagne-fuelled laughter, iconic umbrella portraits, and one very important ring bearer named Dimitri, their entire day felt completely centred around celebrating with the people they love most.
And later, seeing their wedding featured on Polka Dot Wedding felt incredibly special — because this day really was full of the kind of warmth, connection, and joy you never forget.
The day began in two completely different spaces, which somehow suited Ben + Benny perfectly.
One morning unfolded quietly in a modern Brisbane city apartment overlooking the skyline, while the other began inside The Refinery itself, surrounded by the calm anticipation slowly building before guests arrived.
Both spaces had simliar energy, and the same excitement underneath it all.
There’s always something special about those early wedding hours spent with your family and friends, the deep breaths, the final touches, the messages, and the realisation that the day you’ve been planning for so long is finally here.
The ceremony had the perfect balance of heartfelt and lighthearted.
There were emotional moments woven through the entire day, but never in a way that felt heavy. Ben + Benny kept everything relaxed and full of personality, which meant guests were just as often laughing as they were wiping away tears.
The rain threatened and drifted in and out throughout the day, somehow making everything feel even more romantic.
No wedding blog for the HusBen’s would be complete without mentioning Dimitri.
Tiny tux. Big responsibilities.
As ring bearer, Dimitri fully stole hearts from the moment he appeared, and honestly became one of the stars of the entire day.
We will never say no to dogs at weddings.
After the ceremony, we made our way over to New Farm Park for portraits, and honestly, it was the perfect contrast to the industrial feel of The Refinery.
Between the huge fig trees, soft greenery, riverside light, and rainy Brisbane atmosphere, the whole session felt relaxed, romantic, and effortlessly fun.
Ben + Benny had their wedding party with them for this part of the day too, which completely lifted the energy. There was so much laughter, chaos, umbrella juggling, hype squad behaviour, and genuinely fun moments in between the more romantic portraits.
No stiff posing, no pressure. just everyone enjoying the afternoon together while we captured the moments naturally as they unfolded.
Some of our favourite images from the entire day came from this part of the afternoon. The combination of the soft weather, the city backdrop, and the way everyone interacted together created portraits that felt emotional, stylish, and full of personality all at once.
As the night rolled on, the energy somehow just kept building.
The speeches were emotional, the dance floor was chaos in the best possible way, and every part of the reception felt warm, inclusive, and full of love.
The Refinery suited the vibe of the night perfectly, modern, stylish, relaxed, and built for a really good party.
Ben + Benny created a wedding day that felt deeply personal from start to finish.
Elegant without being overly formal. Emotional without losing the fun. Stylish while still feeling relaxed and completely true to who they are.
Honestly, the perfect balance.
Ben + Benny. thank you for trusting us to capture such an incredible day. We already know the HusBen’s anniversary celebrations are going to be just as iconic.
