Styled shoot

This styled shoot at Montara Hall on Beechmont (previously known as Providence Farm Hall) took place on one of the foggiest, rainiest mountain days imaginable, and honestly, the weather became part of the story.

The moodiness of the hall, the soft fog rolling across the roads, and the darker editing style created for this shoot all worked perfectly together.

We loved the cinematic atmosphere this day naturally gave us. It felt romantic, dramatic, intimate, and completely different to a bright sunshine wedding day.

The styling for this shoot leaned into modern romance with a slightly editorial edge, structured silhouettes, vintage-inspired details, rich textures, and soft candlelit tones throughout the hall.

Montara Hall already has so much character on its own, which meant every little detail felt elevated without needing to overcomplicate the styling.

The dark timber interiors, vintage piano, soft lighting, and old-world atmosphere inside the hall created the perfect backdrop for dramatic portraits.

It’s one of those venues that feels beautiful in every kind of weather, but especially on moody mountain days like this one.

Rather than avoiding the rain and fog, we embraced it completely.

The mist softened everything around us and created the dreamiest light for portraits outside. The quiet roads, fogged windows, and clear umbrellas made the entire shoot feel cinematic and intimate.

These are still some of my favourite kinds of conditions to photograph in because they create atmosphere you simply can’t fake.

This styled shoot was a reminder that some of the most beautiful imagery happens when the weather doesn’t go to plan.

The fog, rain, dark interiors, and mountain atmosphere all came together to create something emotional, artistic, and full of mood.

This shoot still feels timeless in its own way, romantic, cinematic, and completely immersed in the atmosphere of the day.
